Marvel’s Agent Carter: This is a show you don’t want to miss!!!

Yasssss, that tweet. Well I can finally, finally tell you what my secret squirrel mission was. Now anyone who knows me, knows this has been really hard for me to hold in. I haven’t even told the Marine about the experience yet, because I wanted him to experience it right along with the rest of my readers. So during that secret squirrel mission I had the opportunity to meet with Louis D’Esposito (Co-President of Marvel Studios & Executive Producer on Agent Carter) and Jeph Loeb (Executive Producer on Agent Carter), as well as I had a chance to meet Agent Carter herself Ms. Hayley Atwell (yes insert loud scream here, you know me…smile). We also toured the Agent Carter set, which will be next week’s blogpost so stay tuned and well we got the inside scoop…FIRST HAND!!!
It was myself along with 24 other bloggers and the Marvel Secret Squirrel Security team (no that’s not a joke…Marvel is serious about it’s secrets, which is why I feel so blessed to have been privy into the secret world of Marvel Land..smile), and we were able to preview some never seen footage in a private Disney screening room. The footage was literally fresh off the press, in fact there were scenes that hadn’t even been edited and we could still see the green screen in some scenes. It was amazing listening to the passion behind this project and being told first hand by the E.P. their concept and vision behind bringing Agent Carter to ABC TV. The number one reason for bringing Agent Carter to your TV Set….”Her Story Needed to be Told.” Let’s be honest, many of us look at her as the love interest of Steve Rogers (aka Captain America), we see her as the feisty dame, or even as a sidekick, but Jeph Loeb quickly pointed out t0 us “Agent Carter is not a sidekick”. And if you look at the clip posted below you will definitely agree with that statement.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring “Captain America’s” Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.”
Here’s the top reasons why I will be watching Agent Carter tonight:
- My son is a HUGE Marvel Fan and this show will be something that we can watch together to help tie all the Marvel Pieces together for him.
- The show showcases a woman who is not only empowered but kicks butt. I am all about Girl Power and I love for my daughter to watch strong female characters.
- I have a feeling that we are going to see some things in Agent Carter that will help prepare us for Captain America 3 which is due out in 2016. Why you may ask? Well we asked the E.P. if we were going to see more of Agent Carter in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (in an effort to prepare us for the release of Agent Carter). Their answer was, “I think it’s safe to say that it’s all connected.” Hmmm all connected huh? Then it was said, “We love planting Easter eggs” – Clarification was needed at this point. Sw we were told to watch Iron Man 2, Tony Stark is wearing the same robe his dad was wearing in the Agent Carter Shorts. Got it “Easter Eggs”…I definitely will be watching.
- The storyline is amazing…Marvel does a phenomenal job at crossing all the t’s and dotting all the i’s.
- There is a huge gap between Captain America: The First Soldier & Captain America: The Winter Soldier – We need to know what happened in between that time, and who better than to show us than Peggy.
- Agent Carter will actually show us how S.H.I.E.L.D. began, so it ties the two shows together.
- I’m sure there will be some “surprise” appearances by some of our favorite Marvel Characters, so I am determined to watch to see what “Easter Egg” will appear.
- After touring the set and seeing how detailed the props and the set are, I am anxious to see how all of it looks on film.
- I love the fight scenes…I am so serious, there is something about the fight scenes that I just get into. I love seeing the good guys beat up the bad guys.
- My last reason…IT’S A MARVEL for Heaven’s Sake…it’s bound to be amazing and not just the little bit that I was privy to.
I am truly honored that Marvel entrusted us with this content and to be able to enjoy this experience first hand…so honored I am smiling as I write this blogpost. So hopefully you will be following suit with me tonight, because my crew and I will be chilling on the couch in our matching Captain America Jammies (yes we all have them don’t judge us, my son made me buy them and I happily obliged). As we watch the 2 hour premiere of Agent Carter!!! Premiering tonight and on Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC!
